Who's Your Favorite Disney Princess?

To make my kids easy to tell apart, I made sure they had differently colored hair.  You're welcome.  It seem pretty normal to most adore the princess who most resembles you, right?  Well, Georgia is in full-Rapunzel mode.   The Tangled party countdown is 11 days.  Ahhhh.  11 days!

Her grandma made her a super awesome Rapunzel dress.  The trouble is Georgia wants the version of Rapunzel that is like her.  Since there is no chance to find a brunette Rapunzel wig, I'm going to have to either make one or buy a wig that is up to her standards.  11 days, 1 wig.  I'm on it.

Retro Soap Bottle Apron

The blog gods are smiling down on me!  How cute is this Hostess with the Mostess post (including tutorial for dish soap aprons)?  It's like they knew I just got new 1950's cookbooks and wanted an excuse to try out the menu plans!

What to Serve at a Children's Party, circa 1951

The American Woman's Cookbook, 1951
Good Housekeeping's Cookbooks, 1958

We were over at Matt's grandmother's house when he discovered these amazing cookbooks from the 50's.  I can't wait to start rendering fat!  Okay, that's not ever going to happen, but there are so many awesome tips, recipes, and menus.

Wanted to know what to serve hikers? Camp hamburgs (not hamburgers).  What do you serve at a men's card party?  Tipsy pudding.

Since I'm in the throws of planning Georgia's Tangled party, I am so relieved to have the menu planned out.  Apparently, I should be inviting guests to feast on fruit cocktails, chicken sandwiches, fruit butter sandwiches, vanilla ice cream and small cakes, birthday cake (with name, date, and candles), orange juice, and candy.

I hadn't thought of putting the date on the cake!  That'll solve the tricky "how old were you in that picture" game my parents play with my old photos.

I'll include the recipes after the jump.

Beach Bum Baby Shower

Sweet Kelly's baby should be here any day.  I can't wait to expand our circle of friends with another little girl!  Kelly found super cute baby bedding with sea turtles  all over it.  My sister and I used the bedding as inspiration and made a beach-themed baby shower.

Forkchops

Matt wanted Forkchops for his birthday.  They are pretty awesome.  For those of us who are not chopstick masters, you can cheat and flip them when you are pushing your food around the plate with limited success.

Now, I just need to figure out a reason for a sushi-themed party so I can order a few more sets.

A Music Listening Party

My husband turned 34 on Friday.  Now, our daughters consume the whole month of their birthdays with their celebrations.  We, being so mature, only require a weekend.  Matt's birthday weekend started with tapas on Friday night (my mother who was babysitting thought I said we went to a "topless" restaurant).  We spent most of Saturday at Disneyland.   Today we had a music listening party with some friends and family.

Here were the rules: bring no more than three of your favorite songs right now.  We sampled some jams and sampled some desserts.  The results: friends have good taste and now my husband has a iTunes shopping list.
